North Dakota ranks fourth in the nation in state competitiveness according to the 2007 edition of the Beacon Hill Institute’s (BHI) annual State Competitiveness rankings.
Competing in the category of General Purpose Website by organizations serving areas with populations between 50,000 and 200,000, the Bismarck-Mandan Development Association was a clear standout.
Forbes ranks Bismarck second in its annual list of the Best Smaller Metro Areas for Business and Careers. That is up from fourth place last year, and fifth in 2005.
The latest Census Bureau figures indicate growth is continuing in western North Dakota counties, with Burleigh enjoying the largest percentage increase of all the state's counties since 2000. ee
